National Hazing Prevention Week

Recognized the last week of September

The last full week of September marks National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW), a time recognized nationally and by UNC to raise awareness, promote prevention, and highlight resources available at Carolina for members of our community impacted by hazing. 

2025 National Prevention Hazing Week Events

  • Tuesday, 9/23, 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., Carolina Union Great Hall: These Hands Don’t Haze Wellness Fair 
  • Wednesday, 9/24, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., The Pit: VPAS and Student Wellness Tabling 
  • Friday, 9/26, 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m., Carolina Union West Lounge: Purple Ribbon Tabling with Fraternity and Sorority Life
  • Wednesday, 10/8, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Carolina Union Class of 2000 Lounge: Trivia Night with VPAS, Student Wellness, and Fraternity and Sorority LifeRegister here. (Postponed from 9/22)

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April marks Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a time recognized nationally and by UNC to raise awareness, support each other, highlight resources, and work together to prevent sexual assault and sexual misconduct at Carolina. Throughout the month, Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services and campus resources are hosting events for students and employees to connect, learn, and get involved. 2026 Campus Hazing Prevention Survey

UNC-Chapel Hill is part of a national hazing prevention study focused on hazing prevention and building safer student groups, organizations, and teams for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.

All undergraduate, graduate, and professional students are invited to take the survey.
