Be That Tar Heel

Be That Tar Heel Sub-Campaign Logo

Inspired by UNC’s It Takes All Heels campaign, this one-hour training provides a high-level overview of key violence prevention topics and the role each of us plays in fostering a safer, more supportive Carolina. The training is facilitated by staff from Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services (VPAS) and Carolina Behavioral Assessment and Management (CBAM).

Be That Tar Heel offers a broad introduction to recognizing and responding to behaviors that may signal harm—including harassment, sexual misconduct, interpersonal violence, and stalking. This training will equip students and employees to learn how to identify early signs of concern, explore practical strategies for safe intervention, and gain tools for creating and discussing safety plans. It will also provide a brief overview of campus and community resources, along with ways to support friends, peers, or colleagues who may be impacted.

This training is designed to help students and employees learn how everyday actions can prevent harm—and how safety is a shared responsibility. It offers a high-level overview; more in-depth trainings are available for those who want to explore specific topics further.
