Bringing in the Bystander

Bringing in the Bystander Logo

Bringing in the Bystander (BITB) is a prevention program developed by Soteria Solutions based on the concept that all community members have a role to play in ending incivility, harassment, violence and discrimination. The important role that a bystander has in intervention is the basis for this unique and effective program.

BITB is designed to equip students with a clear understanding of bystander intervention and their critical role in preventing harassment, sexual misconduct, interpersonal violence, and stalking. Participants will learn to recognize a continuum of inappropriate and concerning behavior, support impacted individuals, and explore personal and social barriers that may hinder intervention. The training helps students gain the knowledge and skills needed to identify and safely intervene before, during and after instances of concerning behaviors.

BITB is an in-person, live training session facilitated by staff from Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services (VPAS) and Carolina Behavioral Assessment and Management (CBAM).
