2026 Campus Hazing Prevention Survey

Take the Survey

To complete the 2026 Campus Hazing Prevention Survey, please use the survey link or scan the QR code below.

The survey was also sent to students via email February 23 with the subject line, “2026 Campus Hazing Prevention Survey.”

UNC-Chapel Hill is part of a national hazing prevention study focused on hazing prevention and building safer student groups, organizations, and teams for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students. In 2025, Carolina joined the third cohort of the What Works Study, led by The Timothy J. Piazza Center for Fraternity and Sorority Research at Penn State University.

This spring, students nationwide are invited to take a hazing prevention survey. At Carolina, Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services  and other campus partners want to hear from you. Your input will help us understand student experiences and strengthen programs, resources, and support – both on campus and nationally.

We encourage all students to participate to ensure findings reflect a wide range of student experiences. The survey will be offered each spring throughout 2028 to guide both immediate and long-term prevention efforts.

Survey Details and Participation

  • The survey is open to all undergraduate, graduate, and professional students.
  • Your participation in the study will involve completing an online survey.
  • The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete.
  • Participation is voluntary, and your survey responses are anonymous. More information about privacy and confidentiality is included at the beginning of the survey.
  • You may skip any questions that you prefer not to answer.
  • The survey will open Monday, February 23 and close at the end of April.

Help us create a safer Carolina, and win It Takes All Heels swag

As a thank-you, students who complete the survey will be eligible to play Plinko at one of our tabling events across campus and win It Takes All Heels swag including sweatshirts, hats, blankets, Bluetooth speakers, and more!

To play, share your UNC-Chapel Hill email at the end of the survey to receive a confirmation email. The confirmation email is sent only to you, and your survey response is not shared with UNC-Chapel Hill. Bring your confirmation email to one of our Plinko tables to play! Prize items are available while supplies last – first to complete, first to win!

To be eligible for a Plinko coin drop, students must present their individual survey completion confirmation email to a staff member at the table. Screenshots, altered images, using another student’s device, or misrepresenting completion status will not be accepted and will result in disqualification.

Prize items are available while supplies last and may vary from event to event. Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services reserves the right to end a tabling event early if inventory is depleted, and students are encouraged to return at a future event if that occurs. Participation and winning are not guaranteed. Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services may modify event rules at any time to ensure fairness and manage logistical challenges. By taking part in the Plinko Prize Board, students agree to these rules and Violence Prevention and Advocacy Services’s commitment to hosting fair, honest, and enjoyable events.

These will be conducted during the spring 2026 semester.

If you are interested in participating in a focus group, please email violenceprevention@unc.edu with the email subject line, “Hazing Prevention Study Focus Group.”
